Tablets and EMRs

With the fast adoption of the iPad which is now the leader in the market, it’s a device physicians would love to use in their daily practice. It’s no surprise that EMR vendors are taking notice, though there are not many native iPad EMR apps but I suspect this might change in the coming months.

As an avid webOS user, I think the soon-to-be-launched HP Touchpad has also great potential for use in the healthcare sector. With HP’s clout in enterprise and with Citrix receiver built-in, I think the Touchpad has what it takes to be a good tablet for physicians. The openness of webOS, allowing IT administrators to install custom apps directly on devices used in a particular site, without having to go through an appstore, is a tremendous advantage. I can only say to HP – bring on the Touchpad now!!
