Sanford Guide 2009

The Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy 2009 (Mobile Editions) 39th annual update for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Palm OS is now available.
The Sanford Guide in PDA format is an excellent alternative to the handbook - quick search for topics and larger fonts which are easier on the eyes!

Why not iPhone?
I asked Sanford guide exactly the same thing…. here’s the e-mail response. No biggie i’m using it less and less often nowadays, only need to use it once in a while when am covering the ICU at night

Dear Dr.,
Our iPhone version is currently under development, it’s release date is for 2010.
Further information will follow and be posted back on our website as we progress.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

The Sanford Guide is a great resource despite being one of the most poorly organized references I’ve ever used.
The index is hit or miss. The layout of information varies from page to page-sometimes vertical, sometimes horizontal. I have great vision, but even I find the tiny type challenging to read.
I had the Palm version a few years ago, but gave-up on it as it was even more poorly organized than the print version. The alphabet was at the bottom of the title page, and you clicked on letters, hoping the subject you were looking for would appear.
Has anyone used the most recent guide? Do they have any comments on usability?
The most recent Palm and Blackberry Sanford guides are better than before but still not perfect. Links can end up going to nowhere. At least the formatting is pretty good. Yes some palm versions in past had weird formatting or flat out crashed. I’m an ID doc so I wanted to have something when I’m outside hospital and someone calls for advice (off course- can’t easily answer phone and check electronic sanford guide simultaneously!) I really love the sanford guide (paper) but the electronic versions are a bit clunky. (compare to epocrates which I think is great and has evolved so much since early versions!)
