Free online medical encyclopedia

Well not quite purely a medical encyclopedia. I’m talking about Wikipedia, that immense collaborative encyclopedia that is gaining so much popularity amongst the masses. You’ll be surprised at the amount of medical information within Wikipedia, even drug information!
How can you access Wikipedia in your PDA?

I don’t think it is practical to keep an e-copy of Wikipedia on your PDA’s storage media. It’ll be huge – perhaps over 500 MB. Not only that, the search will be slow. I think the most efficient way is to access Wikipedia online. On the other hand, the original Wikipedia site is not PDA friendly. Not to worry, step in Wapedia, a free service which makes Wikipedia content very PDA browser friendly. I checked it out using my Treo650′s Blazer browser and here are some screenshots:

I am still amazed at the extent Wikipedia has developed The amount of medical information and drug information in the database is now quite astounding. Try searching for some and see!

  1. Palmdoc, ur right! i am also amazed with the extent of the medical contents they have in Wapedia! Now it’s just the problem with my ward not having WiFi access — otherwise, it will be great to check up drug interactions using WiFi, rather than skimming thru the convention textbooks!
